Car Insurance Saturn (Car Insurance). 1996 yamaha fzr 600 carb rebuild?1996 yamaha fzr 600 carb rebuild? ok so i have a 1996 Yamaha FZR 600 STOCK and the shop finally figured out whats been wrong with it. (carbs need cleaned) yea not that hard of a problem to diagnose..... but anyways, im just curious in a worse case senerio, what all do i need to rebuild all 4 of my carbs? the shop wants $50 per carb kit if they found that the gaskets and O-rings and whatnot need re-built. so im just gonna get the kits off ebay er something if needbe. but im not sure what all needs to come with that kit. i just dont wanna buy the kit wait for it to get here and take it to the shop and them tell me i need something else that wasent in the kit. i know i need the o-rings and float needle but thats all i know what else? thanks to all. Lots of info out there on Cleaning carbs. You probably don't need to Rebuild them (o-rings, gaskets, etc).... but that never hurts. On bikebandit.com, you can view the schematic. It will show what the kit contains. Pull them apart and carefully lay out individual carb parts seperate ,give a good clean and blow out all jets and holes, put the floats on and check the heights of the floats (with the carbs turned upside down) usually measured with vernier callipers.put back on the bike. make sure to clean out the fuel tank and fit an inline fuel filter usually there is no parts required just needs a clean. Now the tricky bit is you need a set of vacumme guages to syncronise them to make sure they are balanced and before you do that you should check the valve settings what are they going to charge you after they clean the carbs ??? I bought a new car on 4/11, it's a 96 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. On 4/12, I went on my lunch break from work to go get a new set of custom wheels. I should add at this point that I am a Trained Motorcycle Technician with many years experience working on cars and motorcycles, including hundreds of tire changes/balances. I am not just an average everyday consumer in this situation. Anyways, I bought the wheels and a set of 4 tires, and I took them to do myself, I wanted them done right and with no scratches, and I wanted them balanced a certain way, using stick-on type wheel weights. On 4/13, I mounted/balanced the tires, cleaned and waxed the wheels, and installed them on my car. I had a small problem, however. The only valve stems I had were for Harley Davidson Mag wheels. They are stainless steel stems with a rubber seal. They fit okay, but one had a slow leak, so I decided to go to the Walmart close to my house and have the proper stems installed. I didn't want to drive all the way out to my shop on these valve stems, so against my better judgment, I just went to Walmart. I worked at the Tire and Lube at this particular Walmart years ago, and I knew some of the people that work there. I felt comfortable taking my car here. I called before I went to make sure they had stick-on weights, and I was informed that they did. Upon arriving at Walmart, I talked to the technician that was going to work on my car, and both my wife and I stressed that we only wanted stick-on weights used when they rebalanced the wheels. We were told this was not a problem. The work was done, and I took my car. Everything seemed fine. Well, this past Saturday, 4/23, being the first nice day we've had here since I got the car, I gave it a good detail after work. I got down on the floor and hand washed and waxed my wheels again. When I got down and started washing them, I found that they had in fact used hammer-on weights on the inside lip of all 4 wheels, and I also found multiple scratches all over the wheels, right around the valve stems and where the lug nuts go. This is absolutely unacceptable. The wheel weights, I guess, I could let slide as a mis-communication, but the scratches in the powder coat and the aluminum is just carelessness and I will not tolerate. I called Walmart, and talked to a manager, and he said to bring the car in so they could see it and they would have to file a claim with their insurance. When I got there, there was probably 8-10 people piling around my car trying to make excuses for what they did, trying to weasel out of responsibility. The technician who actually did the work was there, and he was being a first-class ***hole about it, making smart *** remarks and generally being an idiot, stomping around slamming doors, etc... They pulled my car into their garage, and asked me to come out and show them what I was seeing. I showed them the multiple scratches, and the manager took pictures. They then proceeded to take one of the wheels off to look at the weights, whatever good that would do them. With the wheel off, we found that the rim had a small dent along the bead on the inside lip, which was apparently some huge deal to the tech that originally did the work. He immediately started acting like because the lip had a dent, he was off the hook. We looked at the front wheel on the same side, and found that it was dented as well. Not terribly, I've seen/repaired far worse. Anyways, we started going over my information to make the claim, and the manager is telling me that since I installed the tires/wheels myself before I brought the car to them, and because 2 of the rims had small dents in them, that Walmart would likely not be held responsible for any of the damage that they caused. I installed the wheels and drove straight to Walmart. The wheels were brand new and in perfect condition when it was driven into their garage. Their work order makes no note of any damage either before or after the service. It did state that the ABS light was on Prior to Service, which has nothing to do with the damage in question. He was hesitant to even file the claim, and kept trying to talk me out of filing it, because they probably wouldn't do anything about it. I have an attorney I can contact, but I would rather just keep this out of court. As far as I'm concerned, right is right and wrong is wrong. I had no idea the wheels were dented, but that is not the point anyways. They damaged the wheels, and they need to be held liable for the damage they caused. Dents or no dents, they scratched the wheels and used wheel weights that damaged the finish, and they need to make it right. Am I wrong? Should Walmart get off the hook? car insurance. Saturn . How to Change a CV Joint on an AudiThe CV joint is an important component of your drive train that delivers power from the drive train to the axle and wheels. On an Audi, two joints on each side sit on the inner ends of the axle, connected to the drive train at the center of the car. Each of them is protected by a rubber boot, which can crack as it ages and leak grease. As it leaks grease, you will hear your Audi's front end making a clicking noise whenever you have the wheel turned all the way. It's important to replace them on your Audi as soon as you hear the noise, as a failed CV joint will make the car undriveable. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Rubber mallet Socket wrench 16-mm socket 17-mm Allen wrench 16-mm open wrench Lug wrench Floor jack 2 jack stands 8-mm triple square hex bit Large vice High-temp grease Step by Step : 1 Remove the center caps that are installed at the center of both of your front wheels, then loosen and remove the bolt that sits in the center of each wheel using your 17-mm Allen wrench. 2 Loosen the lug nuts on both front wheels, but do not remove them. 3 Raise each front corner of the car using your floor jack, and support it using your two jack stands, then remove the lug nuts on both wheels, and take them off. 4 Remove the two bolts, size 17 mm, that sit on the back side of each brake caliper assembly, and remove the caliper and rotor on both sides. 5 Remove the tie rod end bolt near the top of where the brake assembly was, using your 16-mm wrench and 13-mm socket on both sides. 6 Remove the bolt at the top of your upper control arms on both sides using your 16-mm open wrench and socket. After you loosen the nut, you may need to hit the bolt with your rubber mallet to tap it out of the control arm ends. 7 Remove the six bolts that sit around the circumference of the axle at the end of the CV Boot using the 8-mm triple square hex bit. Maneuver the axle out of the car by pulling it straight down and pulling it out of the wheel hub. 8 Place the axle in the large vice, and remove the CV joint by twisting it off with your hand. Remove the old rubber CV boot. Replace the old CV joint with the new one by sliding it into place, and thoroughly pack it with grease. 9 Slide the new CV boot over the axle so it covers the joint, and tighten the clamp around the boot to secure it on to the joint. Step by Step : 10 Insert the axle into the wheel hub on both sides, then align it to your driveshaft and secure it with the six triple-square hex bolts. Step by Step : 11 Reconnect the upper control arm assemblies on both sides by tapping the large bolt into its place and securing it using the 16-mm socket and 16-mm open wrench. Step by Step : 12 Reconnect the tie rod ends on both sides using the 16-mm open wrench and 13-mm socket. Step by Step : 13 Reinstall the brake assemblies with your 17-mm socket and the four 17-mm bolts. Step by Step : 14 Mount the front wheels and screw in the lug nuts, but do not tighten them all the way on. Step by Step : 15 Lower your car, and reinstall the bolts that go into the center of both front wheels. Tighten your lug nuts, and reinstall your wheel's center caps to complete the installation.

Even on the all-wheel drive A4, If a CV joint fails, it's the equivalent of having an entire axle fail, as the CV joint at the outer end is what helps drive power to the wheels. CV joints typically need to be replaced if you notice a clicking noise when you are turning the wheel. The common cause of failure is grease loss from the joint, which is usually caused by an aged rubber CV boot, which sits over the joint. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need High temperature grease for CV joint CV Boot Circlip pliers Breaker bar 16-mm open wrench 16-mm socket wrench 8-mm triple square hex wrench 14-mm Allen wrench 23-mm socket wrench Floor jack 2 Jack stands Large vice Torque wrench Step by Step : 1 Remove any center-caps that may be on your wheels and remove the large bolt in the center, using your 23-mm socket wrench or 14-mm Allen wrench. The size will differ depending on the model year of your A4. 2 Loosen, but do not remove, the lug nuts on both of your front wheels. 3 Position the floor jack beneath each jack point, which are located behind the front wheels on each side, and raise both front corners of the car, one at a time. Once you have one corner raised, position a jack stand underneath it to support the car, then repeat on the other side. 4 Remove the lug nuts that secure your front wheels and then remove both front wheels. 5 Follow the axle from the wheel-end to where it connects to the differential, underneath your car near the center. Remove each of the six securing bolts by using your 8-mm triple square hex wrench. 6 Disconnect the ABS sensor that is connected to your wheel hub's housing. 7 Using your 16-mm open wrench and 16-mm socket wrench, remove the long bolt that connects the axle to your upper control arms. 8 Gently tap at the bottom of the upper control arms with your hand until they part. 9 Turn your steering wheel all the way to the left to make room for the axle to come out. Step by Step : 10 Pull the axle directly out of place and place it in between the large vice. Remove any remnant rubber CV boot material and pull off the CV joint from the axle. Step by Step : 11 Slide the new CV boot over the axle, then pack the new CV joint full of the high temperature grease. Step by Step : 12 Slide the new CV joint on to the axle and into the rubber CV boot. Step by Step : 13 Tighten the circular metal clam that goes around the boot to secure it to the joint. Step by Step : 14 Reinstall the axle by first sliding it into the wheel hub and then aligning the rubber-booted end with the differential at the center of the car. Step by Step : 15 Reinstall the six securing bolts around the axle using your 8-mm triple-square hex wrench. Step by Step : 16 Reconnect the axle to your upper control arms using your 16-mm open wrench and socket wrench, ensuring that the bolt is torqued to 30 ft-lb. Step by Step : 17 Re-install the front wheels and insert the lug nuts, but do not tighten them all of the way. Step by Step : 18 Using the floor jack, lower each front corner of your A4 and remove the jack stands. Step by Step : 19 Reinstall the bolt that goes into the center of the wheel using your 23-mm socket wrench or 14-mm socket wrench and ensure it is torqued to 85 ft-lb. Tighten the lug nuts on your front wheels to complete the installation.
